Tips For Helping Your Kitty Feel Like a King

ProPlanPost 4Meet Chip. This little boy is turning one next month, and we think he’s pretty much the bee’s knees…or maybe I should say the cat’s meow. He’s funny, sweet, and super duper lovey. He’s also spoiled rotten, and doesn’t care who knows it! Since Chippy is such a highlight in our lives, I wanted to share with you ways you can make your own cat feel like royalty.

1) Provide quality places to snuggle.

These snuggle places can include, but are not limited to, your lap when you really need to get up and use the restroom, your computer keyboard when you are trying to write an article about making your cat feel like a king, 90 percent of your desk chair seat when you are using it (forcing you to sit of the very edge), or wound through your legs when you are trying to sleep. The most important thing to remember is that your comfort is always secondary to kitty’s.

2) Friends!

Let’s just go ahead and state the obvious. Cats are like potato chips…you can’t have just one. So go ahead and get your kitty a friend.  Your local animal shelter will be more than happy to help you with this.

3) Playtime!!

Whether you go out and spend a fortune on toys, scratching posts, and climbing things, OR you let your kitties make their own mischief, giving them lots of playtime is a must.  Especially with indoor cats. It is important to make sure they get lots of exercise to keep them from becoming overweight. We highly recommend the little red laser dot thing you can find in most pet stores. Hours of entertainment for your cats and your kids…and yourself, too.

4) Teach them a new skill.

Teach them things they wouldn’t otherwise pick up on their own.  For example, Chip helps me out with dinner every night.  He hangs onto my every word as I explain the recipe to him. Since he is such a big helper I usually reward him with a treat or two.

5) Give them quality cat food.

It’s tempting to buy the cheapest cat food you can find at the supermarket, isn’t it?  After all, it’s just cat food, right? Wrong! Quality does matter! That’s why my kitties and I prefer Purina Pro Plan wet cat food. Who doesn’t love real meat, omega 6 fatty acids, and antioxidants?

Since Chip’s brother is so picky, I want to make sure that what he does eat is good quality. With Purina Pro Plan I know that my boys are getting the nutrition they need, while enjoying the flavor they want. Also, by providing wet cat food for them, I know they are staying hydrated. Summer is in full swing here in the desert, and proper hydration is no joke.

Another thing we love about Purina Pro Plan wet cat food is all of the options they offer.  One of our kitties has a hard time with hairballs. An emergency trip to the vet’s office and one $800 bill taught us that  purchasing quality cat food is well worth it.  When you visit Purina Pro Plan’s website, about half way down you’ll see a series of drop down menus.  You can use this tool to help you find the best product for your cat’s unique needs. In my case, I clicked “special needs” and “hairball management”. Now I know my baby is going to stay healthy, and hopefully, vet clinic emergency free.

Whether they are tackling their older brother, helping you with dinner, or taking up space on your keyboard, cats add some much needed value and stress relief to our lives. Give your babies a kiss on the forehead and a scratch under the chin for me, and tell me all about him/her in the comments below.
